Study Programs
With Sogyal Rinpoche’s wish to offer an authentic and graduated program of Study and Practice in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the following course are offered throughout the year at the Rigpa Vancouver Centre (see our online monthly calendar for current program dates and times).

If you are unsure of how to participate in our programming, please do not hesitate to contact the centre at the email address below to discuss how we can best accommodate your needs:
New Students
Due to a limited number of course instructors we are presently unable to offer another foundation year program for new students at the centre. New students though are warmly invited to establish the fundamentals of a daily meditation practice and an introduction to the Buddhadharma through the Rigpa Distance Learning Program (in 2009 Canadian can now join a Distance Learning group specifically for Canadian students with a Canadian instructor). When registering for the Distance Learning Program be sure to mention that you will be studying with the Canadian Sangha. Click here to go to the distant learning program website!

Students who are registered for and participating in these courses with the Distance Learning program are invited to join the rest of the sangha in Vancouver each month for our international Sangha Gathering Days (see below).
Established Meditation Students
Students who have already undertaken the Rigpa foundation year courses meet each Thursday evening as we continue to deepen their practice and understanding of the Buddhadharma through study of the Mengak Study Pack.

(Students who may be new to Rigpa but who already have a well established daily meditation practice in another Buddhist tradition may be eligible to join this group. Please contact the centre at the email address below with your details to discuss this with an instructor).
Home Retreat and Parallel Program Students
Students who registered for the home retreat Parallel Program in 2006 and those who are presently following the Parallel Program meet each Tuesday evening to continue their study and Practice of the Longchen Nyingtik Ngondro.

(Students who may be new to Rigpa but who already have a well established daily Ngondro practice in another Tibetan Buddhist tradition may be eligible to join this group. Please contact the centre at the email address below with your details to discuss this with an instructor).
Home Retreat Intensive Option Students
Students who registered for the home retreat Intensive Option Program in 2006 meet each Saturday morning to continue their study and Practice of the Longchen Nyingtik Ngondro.

(Students who registered for the home retreat Parallel Program in 2006 are presently able to join this program on the understanding that they maintain regular attendance for these teachings)
International Sangha Gathering Days
All Rigpa students are encouraged to attend the Sangha Gathering Days that take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month:

“The Aim of the Sangha Gatherings is to bring all of us together into one Mandala. There are those who are more fortunate, and who are able to come to retreats and teachings on a regular basis, but there are others who, because of the circumstances in their lives, cannot. Sometimes they find less and less opportunity, and sometimes circumstances can even become an excuse to let their connection with the teachings wither. They drift further and further away, get more and more caught up in samsara, and lose their connection.

So these gatherings of the whole sangha provide a way in which those who cannot attend retreats and weekends can come together, receive the latest up-to-date news, connect with me in a heartfelt way, and get a real experience of the most recent, inspiring teachings.

Above all the Sangha Gatherings are a way of connecting and coming together. They are an opportunity not only to connect with the teachings but also with each other. I feel the Sangha Gatherings should be a genuine celebration”.

~ Sogyal Rinpoche
